Treatment. According to scientists, there is no cure for dyspraxia but there are many strategies that can help. Occupational therapists will look at fine motor and perceptual skills together with activities of daily living such as household tasks and organisational skills, which help to develop strategies to improve these traits.

Yes, there is a cure! – DON’T LABEL UNSKILLED HUMANS AS DYSPRAXIC. NO ANIMAL IS DYSPRAXIC‘. It is the modern world, post WWII, that has seen a decreased level of practical, human skill and partly because of the strong emphasis on the Capitalistic, materialistic world. Almost everything we use is either created or packaged by machines; even food. This lessens the requirement by human beings to engage in manual and practical activities, so they effectively have little opportunity to learn by doing.

It is my opinion that there is no connection between autism and dyspraxia, nor between intellect and dyspraxia, and the labelling of young people who cannot manage practical skills is inappropriate. I am clear in my mind that we have a lot to learn concerning labels, and I have been considering whether some modern-day parents earnestly seek a label for their child!
