ABOUT ME
Graeme Whiting was born in 1944 and grew up on the Norfolk coast
in a family of nine children. At school he won many prizes and
excelled academically as well as showing a gift for sports and
gymnastics. Following seven years in the British Army, he began a
career in education, initially teaching physical education in public
schools and later turning to the Steiner system. In 1991 he founded
his own school, The Acorn School, a small independent school in
Nailsworth based on Steiner principles and Graeme’s own life
experiences and values. After twenty-seven years as headteacher at
Acorn, Graeme is now semi-retired and teaches part time while
pursuing his own interests. He continues his lifelong passion for
fishing and enjoys playing guitar, writing, consulting on education,
inventing, and keeping fit. He has published his autobiography, From Little Acorns, and is also working on a collection of short stories and a book on parenting.
Graeme and his wife, Sarah, who
teaches and is the bursar of The Acorn School, live in an old
farmhouse in the Cotswolds.
